Global Girls

    Global Girls is for young women between 16 and 24 that are planning for their futures and navigating adulthood.

  2. WHAT

    Global Girls is a program that offers learning opportunities, community activities, discussion groups and guests speakers to empower young women to be the best versions of themselves.

    Join us Bi-Monthly on Thursdays and at occassional special events.

Global Choir

  1. WHAT

    EMCN Global Choir consists of international members who love singing. Our songs express our diversity of cultures and countries from around the world. ıWhy: It is an informal way to practice English, make new friends, and enjoy music from around the world.

  2. WHO

    Everyone is welcome to join Global Choir. You do not need to be a trained singer to join!

  3. WHEN

    Every Thursday from 12:00pm – 1:00pm

    Just show up! No registration required. No experience with singing or English is required. A light lunch is provided.

Global Cooking

  1. WHAT

    Learn and share recipes from around the world!

  2. WHO

    Newcomers from around the world come together and share recipes across cultures. Each week the group plans, prepares and eats a meal together.

  3. WHEN

    Every Tuesday from 11:00am – 2:00pm; 2017-2018 session dates: September 26th – December 12th, 2017 and January 16th – May 15th, 2018

  5. WHY

    This is a great way to meet friends, overcome isolation and do something fun!

Wintegration

  1. WHAT

    A variety of family events are held throughout Winter so that newcomer families can experience fun Winter activities, such as skiing, skating, snowshoeing, river valley walks, curling and tobogganing.

  2. WHO

    Newcomers who want to learn about and participate in Canadian Winter activities. All ages welcome!

  3. WHEN

    Various times throughout Winter.

  4. WHERE

    Various locations throughout Winter depending on the activity.

  5. WHY

    Winter may be long but it does not have to be boring! Try new Winter activities while meeting new people and gaining a new appreciation for the outdoors.

Global Gardening

  1. WHAT

    Participants work together to plan, prepare, plant and maintain a community garden. There are several community events each summer at the garden and a harvest in the fall. You can also join the garden committee and help plan the events and garden expansion!

  2. WHO

    Anyone who wants to learn about gardening or is already an avid gardener. If you have skills to share and would like to gain leadership skills- consider joining the garden committee.

  3. WHEN

    Preparing the garden starts in Spring, Harvest occurs in the Fall.

Replanting Roots

  1. WHAT

    Replanting Roots is a foundational first step that will help you successfully participate in programs and services that will help you overcome barriers to achieving your goals. You will meet new people, improve your English skills, gain volunteer and leadership experience, get connected to mentors and role models and engage in meaningful field trips and activities.

    Iraqi, Syrian and Karen community members aged 17-30.

    Every Saturday at various times.

    Various locations across Edmonton depending on the event.
