RISE 2014 Welcomed Keynote Speaker Zahra Al-Harazi
We are proud to welcome 2013’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award Winner Zahra Al-Hazari as this year’s keynote speaker. A mere 16 years ago Zahra was a new immigrant to Canada, a young mother with three children and a survivor of two civil wars. Today, Zahra is a highly sought after keynote speaker, Calgary’s Top 40 under 40 in 2009, named one of the most powerful women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network, CEO and creative director for Foundry communications. In 2011 she was named Chatelaine’s Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the year and in 2012 she was bestowed with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
The Edmonton Mennonite Center for Newcomers’ RISE Awards, presented in partnership with the Edmonton Regional Immigrant Employment Council, have been operating as one of Edmonton’s signature events for many years.
The RISE Awards are comprised of two award categories, the Community Awards and Employer Awards, and celebrate the many accomplishments of newcomers and their champions, as well as the hard work of all the immigrant-serving agencies throughout the city.
The gala is a celebration with entertainment, speakers and awards presentations featuring immigrants and Canadians who support immigrants, as well as employers who show leadership in their human resource policies and employment practices towards immigrant workers in Edmonton.
The Edmonton Mennonite Center for Newcomers would like to thank our RISE 2014 Sponsors!
