The Unskilled Labour Employment Services are provided under the Career and Employment Services for Immigrants (CESI) Program.
Whom we provide service to:
Immigrant Albertans whose skills qualify them to work at jobs in the categories C & D of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). These Clients will be Canadian Citizens or Permanent residents of Canada, or Refugees under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act who have been given convention refugee status, and have been issued a ‘Notice of Decision’ and have a valid Work Permit. They will also be 18 years of age or older, and Residents of Alberta who are unemployed, or marginally employed (working on average less than 20 hours per week over the last 12 weeks) and planning to remain employed.

Purpose of our Service:
To provide a wide range of career and employment related services to Immigrants whose skills are in the NOC C & D categories, to gain meaningful, sustained employment in Alberta. Services will include: Career and Employment Information Services (CEIS), and Job Placement (JP).
Average length of service per Client:
The program is designed as ongoing and has intakes round the year. The length of service will vary depending on the type of service the Client requires.
Job Placement: up to 12 weeks with a 90 and 180 day follow-up period.
Nature of Services:
The major services available to our clients are:
1. Workshop: All workshops are designed to provide specific information about the Canadian workplace and workplace culture; many will provide the Clients with opportunities to practice newly acquired skills. Workshops will include topics that are relevant to Client needs based on their job goals – and objectives for further training.
2. Resume Assistance: We provide clients with individual assistance to develop or refine their resumes, or Clients may access the resume writing workshop.
3. Exposure Courses: These courses will provide Clients, who are labour market destined, with the essential skills they need to reach short-term career goals, and immediate employment. Exposure Courses, available but not limited to, are as follows:
