Volunteer positions are posted as they become available. Through the volunteer program, we build learning communities across culture. The willingness of our community to engage in the work we do; and the generosity of our donors to help us achieve our mission has been at the pillar of our success. If you are interested in getting involved, to meet newcomers to Edmonton, we invite you to become a volunteer.
Take a look at available openings below and fill out the Volunteer Application Form to apply to any of them. Most of our volunteer roles are program-based, so we require some minimum time commitment in order to provide stability.
- …Volunteer as Education & Employment Readiness Volunteer at Water Wings: EMCN and Water Wings have partnered to provide employment services in the Water Wings Resource room to vulnerable members of our community, to enable them to find a pathway to employment. Volunteers help with things like open email accounts, access job information on the Internet, edit resumes and contact prospective employers by email. On the average, 40 to 50 clients come in daily needing help. This role is very good for those who have good internet and computer skills. Click here to download poster for more information. Download and fill out this particular Application Form (slightly different from the one above) to apply.
- …Volunteer as Sky Club Tutor: Volunteer in one of our fun, inclusive Saturday homework club. It is a children and youth program for students in grades one to twelve. It starts at 10am to 2pm and provides homework help as well as other fun activities. Click here to learn more about the program. Fill out the Application Form to apply.
- …We invite you to join EMCN Global Choir each Thursday at lunchtime. No singing experience is required!
Singing with EMCN Global Choir is a fun way to help newcomers practice their English. The choir is multi-cultural and has members of all ages and walks of life. Volunteers set up chairs and lunch, then they join ESL (English as a Second Language) students, EMCN staff and community visitors to share a light lunch and sing. At the end of the practice, they tidy everything away.
So drop in any Thursday, from 12 noon to 1pm, to make new friends and enjoy global music sung from the heart and soul! No need to Register.
