As a member of former Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson’s team in 2013-2021, Bin advised the mayor at city hall through both his terms in office. Prior to entering the political world, he worked as a communications professional in Canada and abroad. An EMCN board director since 2018 and an immigrant himself, Bin became vice chair in 2020 and chair in 2021 and, at different times, has sat on committees covering governance, policy, finance and human resources. Currently, Bin is serving as Board Chair for the 2021-2022 term. Â
He has volunteered on numerous other boards, most recently with Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta in 2017-2020. With a BA in economics and an MA in Southeast Asian studies, Bin is also a long-time volunteer at North America’s largest and longest-running fringe theatre festival.Â
