To help orient newcomers, EMCN offers group information sessions on various topics, including:
- General overview of Canada and its history
- Local and national sources of information in 15 other settlement areas including rights & freedoms, education, transportation, housing and more.
Sessions held online every Tuesday from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm MST. After the info session, EMCN can book a personal follow-up session if you’re interested.

If you’re a newcomer parent or a newcomer live-in caregiver with a child with disabilities or underlying health conditions, then join us to find out more on how to access various programs, services and benefits to support your family.
Free info sessions held online on Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:00 pm MST and offered in collaboration with:

EMCN offers 2-hour, in-person CUE Welcome Sessions to find out more about the CUE program.
In-person sessions are held every Monday from 10 am—12 pm MST.

As part of our community engagement, EMCN offers one-hour complimentary Information Sessions to learn more about why we exist, a bit of our history, as well as what we do and how we do it across our diverse and inclusive programming.
AUDIENCE: These sessions are intended for:
- Employers, researchers and other organizations interested in partnering with EMCN,
- Individuals interested in a career with EMCN,
- Individuals interested in serving as one of our volunteer Board of Directors, and
- Members of the community and other organizations that would like to know more about how to support newcomers to thrive in the Edmonton area.
Sessions are held:
- In-person at our EMCN Central location in downtown Edmonton, and
- On Wednesdays throughout 2024.

EMCN offers Impact Info Sessions for those who’d like to hear about how the enduring generous donations and funding support to EMCN has supported newcomers to settle and thrive in the Metropolitan Edmonton area.
Sessions are held:
- In-person at our EMCN Central location in downtown Edmonton, and
- Once a month from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.

Mar. 4 – 28 – EMCN Computer Workshops
- EMCN offers free computer workshops for EMCN clients. Courses include varying aspects and levels for:
+ Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word
+ Design with AutoCAD - Learning options:
+ Remote learners must have internet access and the software installed on their laptop for the course they want to take.
+ In-person learners can use the computer lab at EMCN Central. - Registration requirements:
+ Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 or higher in English.
+ You must register using this online form, then the meeting link will be sent to you.
+ Drop-ins not accepted.
+ Register only for the workshops you can commit to attending as space is limited.
March 18 & 19 – New I-WIN Classes Begin
- EMCN is kicking off new classes for our Immigrant Women’s Integrated Network (I-WIN) classes.
- Child-minding services and bus tickets available if needed.
