Care for Newcomer Children (CNC)

Learners in Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes at the EMCN Language Centre may be eligible for childcare at no cost in our on-site, licensed childcare program.

What is the CNC Program

EMCN supports Edmonton-area families through some of their initial stages of settlement in Canada. Our intercultural Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program provides care and learning opportunities to children aged 6 months to 5 years while their parent(s) attend Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes. We currently offer on-site childcare and online programs.

Children are capable and strong, and at EMCN, we respect each child as an individual, part of a family and part of our community. Through our EMCN CNC program, children are supported to learn and grow through playful exploration and responsive environments. Children’s needs and interests are at the centre of all we do. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the activities of the program and to share their cultural and historical perspectives. We strive to be holistic in our approach to families, offering connections to other EMCN, agency and community programs and resources.
