The CENY project is a newcomer youth leadership project. It helps the youth develop friendships, networks and gain some skills and experiences through the volunteering work they are involved in. It is these skills and experiences that exposes them to become leaders and also be partly prepared for any employment opportunities through the Canadian work place experience they have gained. They learn to identify challenges in their various communities and work out solutions to address the challenges. The program is run by a Coordinator, a facilitator and the cultural connectors. Â
The participants are mainly high school students and first year college students. The activities run in the evenings and Saturday afternoon. The outcome is for the participants to gain skills, experience and make friends to develop networking with others outside their community.
