S.K.Y. Club

The Support for Kids and Youth is a mentorship program that supports elementary. Junior high and Senior high students with their academic work and other school needs. This program supports the newcomer participants to develop networks, friendships, confidence/ self-esteem and learn social skills that are necessary for functioning with peers. It gives the participants the opportunity to explore Edmonton through field trips, volunteer and gain skills and experience that will help with employment opportunities. It runs mainly on Saturdays and it is facilitated by the Coordinator and the staff members. The tutors and mentors are mainly the community service-learning students from the University of Alberta and other community volunteers.  

The outcomes are to eliminate dropping out of school, prevent involvement in drugs and gangs and prepare the participants for better choices that will make them succeed in society. Contact 780-424-7709 or call 780-200-3684 to obtain more information or register to participate.Â
