Where did you grow up?
I have fond memories of Kearns, Utah. When we migrated to Canada we settled an a small hamlet of Nestow about 25 kilometre east of Westlock. My mom had 81 acres of wild-lands. Coming from the big night lit and noisy city, the first things we got – even before running water or permanent shelter was a yard light!
What is your favourite quote?
It’s long but has had such a significance impact on me and my owning my power. It’s been modified to speak to me. “I’ve come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in any environment or setting. It’s my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a human being in this world, I possess a tremendous power to make an other’s life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a person is humanized or dehumanized.”
