Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN) is looking for new Board members! Serving on the board of a not-for-profit organization is a rewarding experience, both personally and professionally. About the Role
Board members set the vision and strategic priorities. As a board director, you will attend board meetings every second month (usually in person but virtual is an option) from September to June. Directors are expected to attend the yearly Annual General Meeting held in late June and the annual Strategic Retreat in October. Board members also contribute by serving on at least one standing committee: Governance, Audit and Finance, and Human Resources. You will also be invited to represent EMCN at other functions or events throughout the year.

EMCN is seeking individuals passionate about making our community more inclusive and celebrating diversity as a strength. Our goal is to create a high functioning and diverse board that is representative of the community members we serve.
We are looking to fill out our board’s knowledge in the areas of:
- HR
- Fund development
- Communications
- Government relations
- Financial management
- Accounting
Ideal candidates understand board governance and demonstrate a commitment to community involvement and the work of the organization.
Terms
The role will be for a 3-year term with option to renew for another 3-year term. This is an unpaid volunteer position. All reasonable travel and similar expenses will be reimbursed with prior approval.
